Nancy Drew Treat: The Final Popcorn Ball

Nancy Drew Treat: The Final Popcorn Ball

I am in some major eye strain pain right now, but here I am putting my delicate vision on the line to give you yet another Nancy Drew themed recipe for your enjoyment. God I hope at least one person is getting something out of these. Eventually I would like to go back and refurbish these with some instructional pictures and tutorials. My sister said she'd get on it but lately she's been really distracted with her *child* and *work*. Idk some people just don't have good management of their priorities. Ignore the sound of my twitching eyelid and let's get cooking detectives!

The Final Popcorn Ball

Use this delicious popcorn ball as a wrecking ball for the destruction of local historical sites. Serve them at your next press conference and watch them disappear like magic!

Ingredients

  • 3 quarts (12 cups) popped popcorn
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Light OR Dark Corn Syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons cinema red and gold sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Spray a large roasting pan lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Add popcorn and place in a 300ºF oven until warm. Combine sugar, corn syrup, butter and salt in a heavy 2-quart saucepan. Stirring constantly, bring to boil over medium heat. Continue stirring and boil for 2 minutes. Remove syrup mixture from heat; stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour syrup mixture over warm popcorn stirring to coat well. Add in sprinkles and mix to combine. Once the mixture has cooled slightly and is able to be touched, spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray. Working quickly to shape twelve 3-inch popcorn balls. Cool completely. Wrap individually in plastic wrap.
