Nancy Drew Treat: Couscous in the Royal Tower

almost as sweet as the smell of fried chicken

Nancy Drew Treat: Couscous in the Royal Tower

I am in some major eye strain pain right now, but here I am putting my delicate vision on the line to give you yet another Nancy Drew themed recipe for your enjoyment. God I hope at least one person is getting something out of these. Eventually I would like to go back and refurbish these with some instructional pictures and tutorials. My sister said she'd get on it but lately she's been really distracted with her *child* and *work*. Idk some people just don't have good management of their priorities. Ignore the sound of my twitching eyelid and let's get cooking detectives!

Couscous in the Royal Tower

Served optionally with 50 drumsticks. Cluck. Cluck.

disclaimer when my sister made this for me she had no intention of sharing this publicly so she didn’t bother to write down her sources which is completely valid. I will do my best to try to back search some of these recipes but there’s a good chance I won’t be able to find the original sources.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 cups low sodium chicken or vegetable broth (or water)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1-1/2 cups (10 oz) couscous
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Saute garlic with red pepper flakes for 2 minutes being careful not to burn garlic.
  3. Combine the water or broth, salt, and butter. Stir in to pan and bring ingredients to a boil.
  4. Stir in the couscous, cover tightly with a lid, and remove from heat.
  5. Let the couscous steam for 5 minutes or until tender. All water should be absorbed by the end.
  6. Use a fork to fluff the couscous and break up any clumps. Serve warm.
