Zombie land saga
I will fight someone to the pain who claims that subs are always better than dubs. I get that was a real consistent thing back in like *checks watch* 2009... but now that capitalism realizes they can make money off of anime fans and increase their audience size I think dubs have grown to become more entertaining. Case in point - Zombie land saga

Young ingenue Sakura dreams of being an idol - until 3 minutes into the first episode she is hit by a truck and dies. But her dream is given a second chance when she is resurrected by local idol producer Kotaro who plans to produce the first ever zombie based girl group. Absolute banger musical comedy complete with jabs at the entertainment industry, what it takes for an underdog to become a star and yelling. Volume always makes something funnier.
If you like idol anime you’ll love this. If you don’t like idol anime you’ll love this. It somehow manages to capture the joy of working hard towards a hard won dream and be completely irreverent to the genre. I had never thought of zombies as an uplifting symbol in a story - typically they’re usually associated with disease, the end of the world and you know…eating people. But the idea of “rising up again” from your own failures is so beautiful and the perfect way to blend together such contrasting ideas.
“How the hell should I know? Civilization had Wikipedia when you were alive, right?”
-kotaro
“I don’t think of mistakes or failures as bad things, that’s not how it works.”
-Ai to Sakura
“What are you going to do? Die from lack of sleep”
-kotaro
“You’re dead, but at least the others are trying to live. Will you join them or would you rather just sit and rot?”
-Kotaro to Ai and Junko, outside their training room.
“Horse are magical beasts”
-police man during tai episode
Truly so hard to narrow down, there really wasn’t a character I actively disliked. they all did a good job bringing the story along and having a decent addition to the plot.

I think a lot of this had to do with the fact that her english va is Stephanie Young…but genuinely she is an excellent character. I loved so many of her one-liners, her voice is juicy, delicious, and her backstory is hella interesting to the lore.
oh big suprise i picked the one boy character. and no it’s really not just because I am crying laughing at half of his dialogue. he feels like the first p-chan in an idol anime that wasn’t just a dopey dude overwhelmed by the beautiful idol with slightly better grounding in reality. he was flawed, he was passionate, he was a real person. He cared about his girls and his hometown. He’s a trans ally “You’re Masao I’m Lilly!”. He would stop at nothing to reach his goals. He has what it takes. Whether or not we have what it takes is irrelevant because he does.

but also he is a big funny yell man
